I started this blog to keep myself accountable. Did I want other people to read it? Yes. But it was mainly for me to monitor my progress and have it be something that I am committed to on a daily basis. However, it has grown to become much more than that. It has grown into a motivational source for me, a place where I come to seek inspiration. Some days, I just don’t want to run. Some days, I don’t want to lift that extra set. Some days, I want to say “EFF IT” to eating healthy and devour the entire bag of pita chips. But then I remember that I have Half of Jess. I am reminded of my goals. I am reminded of the people cheering me on, of the people supporting me, of the people looking at me to be their support. And I continue on.
This blog is more than just a place for me to lose weight. It’s a place for me to mature and develop emotionally and mentally. It’s a place where I can vent my frustrations and celebrate my victories (scale and non-scale). It’s a place where I can seek comfort and encouragement.
And so I pledge. I pledge to continue this blog, for myself and my health and for others. I pledge to strive to live every day to my full potential. Maybe that potential is a lazy Saturday, maybe that potential is donating 50 dollars to provide an egg for 100 kids in China (more on that later). And I pledge to continue on my quest for a healthier, better me. I can do it.
Today, Mary from A Merry Life is pledging to be on the treadmill for 90 minutes. I’m doing her pledge with her, not only to encourage her, but also to encourage myself and prove to myself that I can do it.
And don’t think I forgot about you, Chris. I pledge to run a 10K with you in May. For you, for me, and for children cancer research.
What will YOU pledge to yourself today? What will you pledge to others?
Porker McMuffin – Lunch: ham, turkey bacon, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cream cheese, basil, cheddar cheese and sriracha sauce all on an English muffin.

Potato Crisps – Dinner: baked potato slices topped with homemade Thousand Island dressing, grilled onions, garlic and mushrooms with ground beef and cheddar and mozzarella cheese.

Consumption: 1561 calories, 23.6g of fat. Total steps: 11,485
Data for March 30.
Workout: Treadmill for 35 minutes.
Time was a huge factor since we had a choir performance to attend, but I still managed to get a good sweat in!
Completed Day 3 of the stretch challenge.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Song of the Day
It features Icelandic band, Sigur Ros. They are a post-rock band with minimalist elements, and their lyrics are a mixture of Icelandic, English and unintelligible syllables. Very beautiful music, and I had the opportunity to see them perform an acoustic set. Simply stunning and surreal.
If you haven’t seen the music video, check it out on YouTube.

Wow! 90 minutes is one hell of a workout. I have been falling behind with some blogs, so I didn’t even notice Mary’s Pledge until it was too late to join in..this time at least.
Good luck, you can definitely do this pledge, and all the things you pledge do to!

I did Mary Merry’s pledge challenge as well! I did mine on the elliptical because the treadmill bores me beyond anything else ever. It was great!
