March (MADNESS) Goals

by Jess on March 2nd, 2010 in Goals

On top of having weekly goals, I’ve decided I’m going to start setting monthly goals as well. The difficulty of having goals isn’t so much the setting part but the actual doing. Hopefully I’ll be able to meet my March goals, and if not, at least come close to. I think it’s important to not only set weight goals. Life isn’t only about weight, even though food takes up a lot of my time. A healthy, great goal would be to smile more every day. Yes, I think I’ll add that to my list as well.

Goals for March:
1. Lose ten pounds. That works out to be 2.5 pounds a week.
2. Run a 9 minute mile. Four weeks to drop 40 seconds on the mile time.
3. Spend time with my best friend before he goes back to Chicago. A non-weight goal!
4. Smile more every day. Make the day a little bit happier, the world a little bit brighter.
5. Have 10 site subscribers by the end of the month. Here’s looking at YOU, readers.

I think 5 goals is sufficient. I’m trying to make attainable goals. No point in setting myself up for failure. One small step at a time is the way to go. Plus, there are things I want to do that will make me a better person overall, or so I hope. Ten pounds a month is totally possible. I lost close to 15 pounds in month 1, and that’s great. But I know I have to keep it up, no slacking, no excuses, no getting comfortable. I always fail when I start getting too comfortable.

I want to be able to run a mile in under 8 minutes, and I think it’ll only get harder from here on out. Is it possible? Yes. Difficult? VERY. I’m hoping to drop the time to 9 minutes by the end of March. If it doesn’t happen, I know it’ll at least come close and I’ll have given it my all.

Tommy, my best friend since high school, is home! And I have not seen him enough. So I must add that to the list before I regret not hanging out when I could have.

I love laughing and smiling, and I feel like recently, I haven’t been as happy as I was when I came home from traveling. Maybe it’s the routine of life setting in, but that’s not a bad thing. I just need to find something every day that makes me feel lucky to be alive. And smile about it.

And lastly, any one who has a blog that says they don’t want readers is LYING. I want to know that people care, that people are cheering me on, that I’m helping to motivate somebody else to live a happier, healthier life. So help me by subscribing to my feeds or commenting! Help me expand my knowledge by sharing what you’ve been doing in your quest for a healthier life. Help me learn.

Now that my goals are out of the way…

What are your weight goals for March? What are your life goals for March?

And let the Madness begin!
