Day 89: Dear Jess Pt. 2

by Jess on May 1st, 2010 in Goals

It seems like I always get exciting emails at the end of the month. Here’s the first one:

Dear Jess,

I see you’ve joined our fight. I see you’re now a fellow Scotsmen, bracing herself against the English tyrant known as Fat. Welcome. I hope you go forth as a brave, fearless warrior and show the world what you’ve got.

Love,
William Wallace

My response:

Dear William Wallace,

I believe your more popular identity would be Mel Gibson. Either way, yes sir, I have now joined the fight. I am now a Weekend Warrior. In order to liberate myself from Fat, my goals for this weekend will be to:

1. Drink a gallon of water every day.
2. Run a 10K straight in VFFs.
3. Stretch after every workout.

Here’s to victory. For Scotland.

Love,
Jess

The other email I got was AMAZING and made my week.

Dear Jess,

WELCOME BACK! I’m glad you’re finally here again. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen you, ever since you decided to ditch us for the 190s. But we’re glad you’re finally here. Make yourself at home. We know you don’t want to stay here long, but remember to be patient. Your efforts will prevail, and we’ll send you off gladly when the time is right.

Be patient. Be strong. Be focused.

Love,
The 180s

My response:

Dear The 180s,

Believe me, it’s great to be back. It’s amazing seeing you guys again. I’m always comfortable here, but I have to keep reminding myself that this comfort can not be permanent, that I’ve still got a long way to go. I will push forward and keep doing my best. I’m glad you’re ready to send me off. I’m ready to send myself off to the 170s too.

But I’ll remember to be patient. I’ll remember that I’ve worked hard to get here. I’ll remember to stay strong. And I’ll remember to push forward even when the going gets rough. Thanks for the warm welcome. It’s good to see you again.

Love,
Jess

I know I’m a few days early for my weigh-in, but since it’s the beginning of a new month, I wanted to re-evaluate my April goals and set May ones. I weighed this morning, and the scale showed 187.0. I was speechless and weighed myself three more times. Yep, 187.0.

Goals for April:
1. Run an 8:30 mile. I ran an 8:36. Close.
2. Lose 9 pounds. Starting weight in April was 198.6.
3. Run 9 miles straight. Re-learning how to run with my Vibrams.
4. Send 5 different people motivational postcards. Sent out 8.
5. Fill out my FAFSA. Still waiting on my financial aid!

Goals for May:
1. Run an 8:30 mile.
2. Run my 10K race in Vibrams.
3. Lose 8 pounds.
4. Get a car wash.
5. Post at least 10 of my recipes!

What are your goals for May?

love the letters! you are so clever!

My goals for may are to just stick to what i’m doing – remain binge-free, maintain my weight and to continue to eat intuitively.

Very cute post…I never get letters! Hmm…I guess I’m not a people person.

Those were very tantalizing food pics…I’m a huge fan of grilled onions…they need to be in more dishes methinks. Yummm!

Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. I have been thinking about swimming or water aerobics. I was a swimmer fro many years so I know what a great workout it can be without strain on my knee.

Sounds like your doing an awsome job yourself! Keep it up.

I’m gonna have to talk with the board of the WWC as I never got my email from William Wallace and I’m bumming. I did however get an email from the 290′s telling me they had a reservation for me for next Wednesday and wanted to confirm it.

I can’t wait to see some of your recipes next month, your pictures are always awesome looking. Good luck with your race in the VFF as well, I cant wait to start running more again. A few more pounds and I start the training back up.

Oh baby, oh baby, those gorgonzola cheese fries make me wanna devour my computer screen. OM NOM NOM.

Aside from that, coolest letters ever. Man, I wish someone would write ME an out-of-the-blue email – it would probably make my day, too. :D

You’ll have to write the 180′s a good-bye letter when you get to the 170′s. Nice to know you…never gonna see you again! :)

Your potatos are making my mouth water and I just finished lunch. You have totally just inspired me to get more creative with my spuds. Yum yum yum!
