I got two super exciting emails this morning that I thought I’d share with you. And no, it’s not an April Fool’s joke.
Dear Jess,
So, I heard. 10K told me you ran 6.22 miles straight in 74 minutes. He also told me you didn’t stop there. You ran for 7.53 miles total in 90 minutes. And you only walked for about two minutes the entire time to grab a water refill and snap proof on your iPhone. Impressive.
Just to let you know, you’re more than halfway there. I’m waiting. I’m waiting for you to train for me. I’m waiting for you to cross my finish line. I’m waiting for June.
Be patient. Be strong. Be determined. And remember to rest.
Love,
Half Marathon
My response:
Dear Half,
So glad to hear from you! I really didn’t think I was capable of running you this quickly. I thought I would aim to run a half later on in the year, but what better place, what better cause, than the Rock ‘n Roll Half in June?! So I promise to work hard. I promise I’ll train to the best of my ability. And I promise to rest. I just signed up, so there’s no backing out now!
Here’s the 10K.

And here’s the total for the last 30 minutes.
I’ll be seeing you soon Half. Wait for me.
Love,
Jess
The other email I got was a HUGE surprise. And it made me squeal like a little girl.
Dear Jess,
Welcome back! We’ve missed you. Why do you keep leaving us? Do we smell bad or something? Because we don’t like giving you back to Twosville. You’ve worked too hard to get here and we try our best to keep you, but for some reason, you always leave. Please stay with us this time. We know you like it here. We like having you here. So don’t go back. The 80′s are starting to make you a banner already. You’ll get there soon!
Love,
Onederland
My response:
Dear Onederland,
You don’t know how good it feels to be back. I’ve been away from you for too long. I’m the prodigal daughter returning home. And it’s good to be welcomed home. I promise that I won’t go back to Twosville ever again. That place is just detrimental to my health. I promise to work hard, even when I feel like giving up. I promise to tough it out, even when I’m feeling like I have no more left to give. And I promise to be patient even when the going gets slow.
Because I can do it. And you believe in me. So thanks.
Love,
Jess
It isn’t my normal weigh-in day, but it’s the beginning of a new month, so it was time to re-evaluate my March goals and set April ones. And so I weighed. The scale showed 198.6. I thought it was a joke. But then I remembered that scales don’t do April Fool’s (or do they?). I’m back in Onederland. It’s not official, but it’s a good sign.
Goals for March:
1. Lose ten pounds. I started March at 209.2.
2. Run a 9 minute mile. Ran an 8:45 mile instead.
3. Spend time with my best friend before he goes back to Chicago. Lots and lots of Halo 3 occurred.
4. Smile more every day. I tried!
5. Have 10 site subscribers by the end of the month. THANKS TO YOU!
Goals for April:
1. Run an 8:30 mile.
2. Lose 9 pounds.
3. Run 9 miles straight.
4. Send 5 different people motivational postcards.
5. Fill out my FAFSA.
Let me know if you want a postcard!
Triple Decker McMuffin – Lunch: turkey, ham, turkey bacon with lettuce, onions, homemade Thousand Island, and Swiss cheese all on an English muffin.

Chow Mein – Dinner: egg noodles, cabbage, mushrooms, garlic, onions, carrots, and bamboo shoots with chicken breast stir-fried in homemade sauce.

Consumption: 1456 calories, 22.1g of fat. Total steps: 28,644
Workout: 90-minute treadmill run.
Completed Day 4 of the stretch challenge.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Song of the Day
It features post-rock group Gregor Samsa hailing from Virginia. The band derives their name from Franz Kafka’s book, which I’ve attempted to read twice, and never finished. The dual vocals complement the music and the band incorporates the piano, clarinet and violin into its sound.

You’ll be in Onederland in no time, and when you get here, I’ll have a banner waiting for your arrival. Party on! Keep working hard! You can do it!
And I wanted to tell you specifically: Thanks. For always supporting, for being there from the super early beginning (oh February seemed so long ago!) and for continuing to motivate and encourage me. Your comments always bring a smile to my face.
I love postcards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS – Your goals are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Email me your address!
And thanks! I try to set some non-weight ones, especially some that can “better the world” in whatever small way that I can.
Wow! Great job on all your goals for March! I’m sure you’ll be able to meet all your goals for April too ^^.
That Triple Decker McMuffin looks so yummy and it’s so low in fat! I’ll have to make myself one of those.
I use Jennie-O’s turkey bacon, which is pretty lean, but Oscar Mayer (I think) has lean turkey bacon too. I liked the Oscar Mayer ones better but it’s still pretty tasty. I grill all the meats and onions, toast the bread and then layer the cheese and meat on top, then I put it back in the toaster for a few minutes to melt the cheese
You rock! Congrats on the 10K and the Onederland! You are totally inspiring I hope you know that!
Postcard….YES PLEASE!
Email me your address! I will find a cool one and write something personal and you can stick it somewhere so that whenever you get down, you can look at it and be reminded to keep trucking on!

Congrats! Fun writing btw. Your next goal should really be to give Gregor a third try
Almost all of what you claim happens to be supprisingly appropriate and that makes me ponder why I had not looked at this in this light before. Your article really did switch the light on for me personally as far as this specific issue goes. However at this time there is actually just one factor I am not too comfortable with and whilst I make an effort to reconcile that with the actual central idea of your issue, allow me see just what all the rest of your readers have to point out.Very well done.
